What I’m doing today:
Writing an episode for a nonfiction Kindle Vella serialization that’s following my yearly Bible reading of the NT.
Writing an episode for a sci-fi Kindle Vella serialization.
Revising a nonfiction writing prompt book that’s under a pen name because of some of the experimental nature of how I wrote it - more on that… later.
Listening to an audiobook version of my first book, specifically listening for pronunciation corrections or anything else that jumps out in a bad way.
Helping my parents.
Laundry.
Housecleaning.
Paperwork for the other job.
Listening to Joanna Penn’s podcast.
Dancing around the house to get my steps in on a rainy day.
Making an AI artwork for a character from my first book.
Miscellaneous extras… there are always many.
What I have learned from these so far today:
The “harder” writing sometimes is the easier writing. I perceive serious nonfiction writing as more difficult, but sometimes, it’s easier.
The little things feel like the more meaningful things. Dancing around my house to old and new songs on an eclectic playlist and grabbing my husband to include him in half a song was a moment that I hold onto longer than some of the rest.
I think I tried to capture this idea in my first novel, and I didn’t remember that I had written this until I listened to the audiobook I am reviewing:
I made this image using a shorter version of this quote, with some added description about the character, specifically that Clara is blonde, has freckles, and is wearing medieval armor. This isn’t quite how I picture her, but after generating about 30 images, I decided this was close enough via Cana’s AI art program, which I am currently using for character and social media posts.
The books I write are the ones I will read or listen to more times than any other books I own. I think I have read my first novel at least twenty times, if not more, and I have listened to it at least three times now. I’m glad I love the story of my first published novel, even if I can hear some of the “wish I had done that slightly differently” moments in the audio version.
For example: Why was it so important that Clara liked the music of the thrimble - a made up instrument in my fantasy world that never is featured again? Although now that I think of it, maybe I will add it to The Dark Blade Trilogy just to bring it back?

I need to make a to do list. Tomorrow. I like your list and am going to go bounce over to your vellas and check them out. The AI image seemed to have turned out really well!
Ooo, I did that! (make AI artwork for ALL my characters from my book) And oh my, yes on the nonfic. I've been working on one of those -- tedious, lots of research -- but easier.
Listened to the audiobook with an editing brain sounds harder that written editing.
