Clarity, a Poem, a Tiny Story, and Books on the Moon, and other news
Did you know that there are books on the moon?
Clarity
Clarity can help with direction. Thank you to all who answered my poll from December 27th! You voted 50% for Snippets of Stories and 50% for Poetry.
You will still receive some thoughts behind my writing - I imagine someone will like this, maybe? I will share in smaller doses, like this. :)
If you want more, I will be over on Youtube discussing The Truth About Storytelling. It’s a new project.
But I do love that my poll answerers want fiction and poetry because I do love to write those. :)
A Blackout Poem, altered to a Found Poem
Isn’t it
Written
Shakespeare gobbled up
Every character and every piece
of hallowed written word?
Now my love
has turned
Inspiration for my own stories,
A sense of comfort to me.
I turn to writing
When the going gets
So innately human,
My own flesh and blood
Speaks for itself, I think.
*This came from a blackout poem I created from an article on Shakespeare, written by someone else, but reframed to create my own reflection.
A Tiny Story of Hint Fiction
News
One of my books went to the moon! (Really, as crazy as this sounds, it’s actually true.)
My novella Liftoff is a stowaway within Chrys Fey’s payload within the Writers on the Moon project started by Susan Kaye Quinn, author and former rocket scientist. Over 126 authors participated and had their works launched to the moon on January 8th, 2024. It’s wild and weird and wonderful. Many thanks to Chrys Fey for including my book, and to Susan Kaye Quinn for managing the project.
I will be one of the planned speakers/readers for Creative Colloquy’s open mic night in Tacoma, Washington on Monday, the 15th.
Starting on January 10th, my first novel Champion in the Darkness will be available for free for all those who sign up for my Substack newsletter through Bookfunnel. If you are already a follower and would like a copy, please let me know.
Meanwhile, I’ll be listening to a lot of “get up and dance music” and Jesse Cook this month to keep my mind in right place when the clouds cover the entire sky. BTW, I found Jessie Cook when a writing friend shared his music on Insta, so if you have an recommends, I’m listening.
I think Chrys snuck one of my books on there, too. It's been so long since I heard it mentioned that I forgot about it.
Wow! Ok, your book is on the moon. That's pretty wild and really cool! Congratulations!
I'm so glad Jesse Cook helps you write. I found him thanks to a PBS broadcast about 10 years ago and his music just speaks to something deep inside me. I have a playlist called Get Me Through the Day on Spotify that I use most days. It's got everything from Cyndi Lauper to The Cure to Def Leppard, Talking Heads and David Bowie. Honestly, I can't remember WHAT'S on there but it really does get me through the day. If not that, I'm listening to angsty classical. Yeah...polar opposites!
